In the mechanical manufacturing industry, the efficient and safe transfer of heavy workpieces is a core production bottleneck. Current practices predominantly rely on crane transportation, which suffers from crane scheduling dependent on manual experience, long waiting times, low transfer efficiency, significant safety hazards for workers, and inflexible fixed transfer paths. The customer of Hangfa Robotics urgently needed an intelligent logistics solution capable of autonomous navigation, precise docking, carrying heavy workpieces, and seamlessly integrating with existing production lines. This solution aims to achieve continuous, efficient workflow, enhance overall equipment effectiveness (OEE), and reduce operational costs and safety risks.
Hangfa Robotics provided a 6-ton-capacity AGV based on the OmniRhino model. Equipped with multi-directional movement modes (forward, backward, omnidirectional lateral movement), it navigates flexibly through confined spaces. Integrating advanced navigation, intelligent scheduling, and automated docking technologies, it establishes an intelligent heavy-workpiece transfer system. The AGV features a roller-type top design that directly receives pallets or workpieces, enabling seamless height-aligned docking with production lines, machine tool worktables, and other equipment — eliminating traditional hoisting processes. It achieves high-precision autonomous positioning and dynamic path planning without modifying existing facilities. This AGV enhances the transfer efficiency of heavy workpieces, reduces labor costs and safety incident risks, optimizes workshop layout to free up space, and lays a robust logistical foundation for flexible manufacturing and digital transformation in the factory.
